Another Successful Event!

Thank you to everyone who made our 6th Annual Benefit Dinner a success! The evening kicked off around 5 o'clock as people began purchasing drinks (Voris Dixon was our bar tender and did an excellent job, as usual), and scoping out the silent auction. There was plenty of goodies to bid on (over 50 items). There was beautiful, hand-crafted jewelry, quilts, preserves, household decorations, photography, paintings, and more. There were lots of contributions by local businesses including: Trader Joe's, All About U Salon and Retreat, Wilhelm Vineyards, Mi Casa, The Horse Shoe Cafe, Old Benson Ice Cream Stop, and Bamboo Club Asian Bistro.

After a while everyone settled in at their tables for a wonderful dinner prepared by Chef Michael and his wife, Lydia. The fare included Italian sausage lasagna, spinach lasagna, salad, bread, and brownies.

Tucson-based comedian, George Franzen, went from table to table performing magic tricks. He kept everyone laughing and gasping at his antics.

As dinner wound down, Clement Scott spoke about the purpose of the fund, it's origin, and it's future. Dr. Tyler also spoke a few words regarding the process of enrolling pets into the fund.

Dr. Tyler then introduced the talented Annie Porter who performed an amazing and hilarious rendition of Patsy Cline's "She's got You". Her act was absolutely fabulous and had everyone in the house roaring with laughter!

Then it was time to welcome the headliner, George Franzen. He kept the laughter coming with his unique brand of comedy and magic. At different points during the act, he welcomed volunteer on stage. The good sports were Cameron, Mary, Hanna, and Jim.

After the comedy show, Penny Dixon, who was in charge of the 50/50 raffle drew a name. Ray and Carol Patrone were the lucky winners but donated all the cash back into the fund.

All in all it was a great evening and we raised over $4,000.00.

Thanks again to everyone who volunteered to help with this event.

Holiday Fair - Benson 2012

Dr. Tyler and Penny Dixon worked hard to set up a wonderful booth at this year's Holiday Fair in Benson. The mission was to meet people in the community and spread the word about the work we do. Thanks to some very generous folks who made bandannas, dog toys, and cat toys we were able to sell some of those items  to raise money for the cause.

One of our very own DMHF Pets was present to help with the event. Zoey was a big help and drew a lot of attention. She was even so kind as to model some of the bandannas throughout the day.

All together we raised nearly $250 and talked to a lot of folks about our organization. Thanks to everyone who made this day successful!

What we can learn from Jayden's story

Posted by Clement on September 21, 2012 at 11:10 PM Comments comments (0)

Meet Jayden (the handsom devil with his arm around the orange kitty). He is a perfect example of The Dallas Memorial Hope Fund in action. Jayden and his companion were orphaned when his mother passed away. Unfortunately, like many people, she had made no arrangements for these two wonderful kitties. A good friend and neighbor took the two cats under her wing but due to limited space, she was only able to keep Jayden's companion. The Dallas Memorial Hope Fund was able to find Jayden a wonderful home and will continue to ensure he gets the medical care he needs for the rest of his life.

Please remember your pets in your estate planning. If you need help getting that in order, The Dallas Memorial Hope Fund will arrange for you to meet with professionals who can help you. Remember to ask those whom you have in mind to assume responsibility for your pet if they are up for the task. Make sure they have the means and the inclination to give your pet the quality care and attention your pet deserves.

As you may know, part of the service we provide is finding permanent foster homes for pets. We take this mission very seriously. Should you choose to have the DMHF see to the health and well-being of your pets in the event something were to happen to you, we would sit down with you and learn everything we could about your pet and their needs. We then record that information and use it to find the perfect home for them should the need arise. If you are interested in setting up a plan for your pets that lives beyond you and assures they are cared for no matter what, please contact us immediately.

We are here to help and take our mission very seriously.
